Pinup attire: Pencil skirts!

Hey Dolls! Welcome to HellCats, modern vintage clothing for the modern vintage gal (and guys!!) We are continuously adding new merchandise to the store so stay posted on the latest. New to the pinup scene but LOVE the retro glam? Then you've come to the right place! Read on...

Here is the first of a series of notes all about the modern day vintage gal (guys don't worry I'll have a few blurbs for you too!)
Lesson One: Skirts & Dresses

Modern vintage is not just a style for many but a lifestyle. What attracts us to this classic era in time? The answer is probably a little different for everyone but no one can deny the class and elegance of the 1950's pinups and the clean, classy fashion of the vintage lady.
Marilyn Monroe, one of my personal favorites, was like sex in high heels. The girl had some serious curves and she knew how to work em! Dresses and pencil skirts were a staple during this time period and it's ridiculously obvious to any girl that's ever pulled on a wiggle dress or zipped up a pencil skirt exactly why....they flatter everybody. A boyish figure (such as myself) suddenly has shapely hips and a girl with a thicker middle has a defined waist. And let's not forget the legs... Skirts are cut  typically to fall just below the knee. You see just enough skin to be wickedly sexy and ultra feminine but keepin it classy at the same time. With this length a gal can be confident and comfortable (nothing indecent will pop out if you bend over to pick up that pencil). Pair your skirt or dress with a set of stilettos to make your calves look insanely good, give your bum an instant lift and not to mention giving you damn near perfect posture. Platform pumps are ideal because they give you an extra height boost and they are MUCH more comfortable. If you really wanna stop traffic, strap on a waspie or a waist cincher, garter belt and some back seam stockings before you pull on your wiggle dress (now I'm getting ahead of myself because vintage lingerie is for another day ;)

It's really not just a style it's an attitude your putting on. You instantly want to pop you hip and suddenly strut. Maybe that's why we are so fascinated with the era, why we can't take our eyes off the silver screen vixens and the polished pinups. Which only leaves me wondering....why did we ever retire this sultry attire?

Welcome to the wonderful world of the modern day vintage. ;)

xoxo
